Welcome to Class 5

Saint Pope John Paul II (1920-2005)

Our Class Saint in Year 5 is Saint Pope John Paul II.

Saint Pope John Paul II was a kind and brave man who led the Catholic Church for many years. He was born in Poland and became pope in 1978. He helped bring peace, stood up for human rights, and taught people to love and forgive. He travelled all over the world to spread hope and faith. He became a saint in 2014 because of his good and holy life.

We are inspired by his attitude and approach to life which was filled with courage and bravery. We follow his teaching, 'Be not afraid, cast into the deep for a great catch' in our classroom by having the courage to try new things and to persevere with challenges as we will be rewarded with new knowledge and pride in ourselves.

Saint Pope John Paul II’s feast day is October 22nd.
