General Class Information:  

• Our PE day is Thursday. Pupils will need to wear black or navy joggers, leggings or shorts, a white t-shirt and trainers.  
• Singing lessons take place every Tuesday morning.  
• Library books are changed every Monday so please remember to return books on this day in order to receive a new one.  
• Our Class Saint is St Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa). Her feast day is the 5th of September.

Autumn Term 2026

English

We will be studying two main texts during this term:

'Old Bear' by Jane Hissey

'Rapunzel' by Bethan Woollvin

Whilst studying these texts, we will be focusing on our handwriting, sentence work, character descriptions and narrative retell.

We also have daily phonics lessons following the Read, Write, Inc programme.

Maths

We follow the White Rose Maths scheme. Our topics for this term are:-

• Place value (within 10)
• Addition and subtraction (within 10)
• Geometry (shapes)

Science

We are learning all about Everyday materials this term in science. 

Religious Education

In Year 1 we are following the Source to Summit Lighting the Path Programme.

Our first topic is  Branch 1 'Creation and covenant' 

Our second topic will be Branch 2 'Prophecy and promise' 

History

Our focus this term in history is The Great Fire of London

Geography

During Geography this term, we will be looking at 'Maps' as our new topic. 

Physical Education

This term our focus is on dance.  PE takes place on a Thursday so please ensure pupils arrive wearing a suitable PE kit so they are not having to change before.

Art/DT

Our topic for art and DT this term is 'Spirals'.

PSHCE

 This term of PSHCE topics are:

• Me and My Relationships
• Valuing Differences.

Our focus for Autumn 1  is computing systems and networks - technology around us.
